Massive cordon and search operations launched across Jammu region

Indian forces intensify militarization on pretext of so-called infiltration threat

Jammu: Indian forces have intensified cordon and search operations across several parts of the Jammu region of Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, further heightening fear and insecurity among local residents.

According to Kashmir Media Service, joint teams of Indian Army, police, Border Security Force (BSF) and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) launched widespread search and cordon operations in Kathua, Samba, Jammu and Rajouri districts, as well as in the Chatroo forest belt of Kishtwar district.

The occupation forces’ personnel carried out extensive searches in Bobiya , Tappan, Mareed, Paharpur, Pansar, Maniyari, Tarnah Nallah, Bein Nallah, Kishanpur Kandi, Chak Chabbey, Dolka Samyal and Rukh-e-Sarkar areas of Kathua district in the name of countering the alleged infiltration threat. Similar operations were conducted in Babar Nallah, Paloora, Treyal, Mansar and Chilla Danga areas of Samba district, as well as in Pargwal and adjoining areas of the Akhnoor.
Indian forces have also stepped up search operations in Rajouri district.

Meanwhile, in Kishtwar district, troops carried out searches in more than a dozen forest villages for the second consecutive day. Residents of the affected areas said the intensified military activity, frequent searches and movement restrictions have disrupted daily life and added to their hardships, particularly during the severe winter season.

Observers say New Delhi continues to use the narrative of infiltration and security threats to justify heavy militarization, prolonged cordon-and-search operations and collective harassment of civilians in the occupied territory, instead of addressing the longstanding Kashmir dispute in accordance with UN resolutions and the aspirations of the Kashmiri people.
