India attaches property of US-Based Kashmiri lobbyist Dr Fai

Srinagar: India on Tuesday ordered the attachment of over 1.5 kanals of land belonging to US-based Kashmiri lobbyist Dr Ghulam Nabi Fai.
According to Kashmir Media Service, Judge Yahaya Firdous of a special NIA court in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir’s Budgam district passed the order in response to an application seeking attachment of Fai’s property under Section 83 of the Criminal Procedure Code. The court noted that Fai had been declared an absconder in a 2020 case registered under various provisions of the draconian Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act.
The court directed the Budgam Collector to attach the immovable property measuring one kanal and two marlas under Khewat No. 60, Survey No. 466 in village Wadwan, and 11 marlas under Khewat No. 136, Survey No. 343 in village Chattabugh, and to take possession immediately.
Dr Ghulam Nabi Fai, a US-based Kashmiri lobbyist and scholar, has long been an advocate for the Kashmir cause at international forums, highlighting human rights violations and seeking peaceful resolution of the Kashmir dispute in accordance with United Nations resolutions. Over the years, his efforts have focused on mobilising support for Kashmiri self-determination, engaging with policymakers, and raising global awareness of India’s oppressive policies in occupied Kashmir.
