2 Indian troops killed in grenade blast in Uri

Srinagar: Two Indian soldiers were killed in a grenade blast in Baramulla district of Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

According to Kashmir Media Service, the troops, identified as Chavan Vikram Balakrishna, a resident of Airoli, Maharashtra, and Arjun Jadhav Rajindra, a resident of Shahpur in Karad tehsil, Satara district, Maharashtra, died after a hand grenade exploded during the routine handing over of equipment at a camp in Kamalkote, Uri area of the district.

After the blast, the injured troops were shifted to the Army’s 92 Base Hospital in Badamibagh, Srinagar, where doctors declared them dead on arrival, an Indian army official told media persons.

Srinagar-based Defence PRO said he would comment on the incident only after receiving details from the concerned officials.

Meanwhile, two Indian Border Security Force officers, identified as Assistant Sub-Inspector Sanjeet Kumar and Head Constable Arveen Kumar, were injured after a bus carrying Indian forces personnel for Amarnath Yatra duty collided with two other vehicles on the Jammu-Srinagar highway in Ramban district, officials said.

The officials said a bus carrying BSF personnel from Jammu to south Kashmir’s Islamabad for Amarnath Yatra duty first collided with a passenger vehicle, a Maruti Ertiga, and then hit a tractor-trolley at Peerah along the busy highway.
