Srinagar court issues proclamation against Syed Salahuddin, three others in 1996 fake case

Srinagar: In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, a special National Investigation Agency (NIA) court in Srinagar has issued a proclamation against Mohammad Yousuf Shah, popularly known as Syed Salahuddin, and three others in connection with a decades-old fabricated case.

According to Kashmir Media Service, Additional Sessions Judge and Special Judge designated under the NIA Act, Manjeet Rai, issued the proclamation, alleging that the four persons were absconding and deliberately evading arrest.

The proclamation has been issued against Mohammad Yousuf Shah (Syed Salahuddin), Ghulam Nabi Khan, Sher Mohammad and Nasir Yousuf Qadri in a case registered at Police Station CIK Srinagar under the draconian Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, the Ranbir Penal Code, and the Egress and Internal Movement (Control) Ordinance (E&IMCO).

The case, registered on April 5, 1996, accuses the four of delivering speeches and motivating youth to wage war against India.

The court noted that arrest warrants had already been issued on February 26, 2026, but they were no longer residing at their known addresses and were allegedly concealing themselves to avoid arrest. After examining the material placed on record, the court directed the four to appear before it on or before July 14, 2026.
