APHC-AJK holds prayer meeting in Islamabad

Islamabad: The All Parties Hurriyat Conference Azad Jammu and Kashmir (APHC-AJK) chapter today held a prayer meeting where condolences were expressed to the bereaved family members on the death of the brother-in-law of jailed Hurriyat leader Mushtaq-ul-Islam in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

According to Kashmir Media Service, the prayer meeting, chaired by Convener Ghulam Muhammad Safi, was held for the elevation of the deceased’s rank, the recovery of all ailing detained leaders, including Mushtaq-ul-Islam, and the early liberation of occupied Jammu and Kashmir from Indian rule.

Ghulam Muhammad Safi and other Hurriyat leaders on the occasion expressed their heartfelt condolences to Mushtaq-ul-Islam and his family and said that the Hurriyat leadership expresses complete solidarity with the bereaved family in this difficult hour.

The Hurriyat leaders lamented that many Kashmiri Hurriyat leaders, including Mushtaq-ul-Islam, have been in Indian jails for a long time and their health have been severely affected due to the hardships of imprisonment.

They said keeping the Kashmiri leadership in prison for demanding self-determination is a clear violation of basic human rights, international humanitarian law and democratic principles.

They expressed deep concern over the deteriorating health of Hurriyat leaders imprisoned for years and said that the lack of proper medical facilities in prisons and continuous mental and physical torture have put the lives of many prisoners at serious risk.

Hurriyat leaders strongly appealed to the United Nations and other international human rights organizations to take notice of the plight of all illegally detained Hurriyat leaders and activists and play a role for their immediate and unconditional release.

Senior Hurriyat leaders Muhammad Farooq Rahmani, Mahmood Ahmed Saghar, Syed Yousuf Naseem, Mir Tahir Masood, Advocate Pervez Ahmed, Altaf Hussain Wani, Shamim Shawl, Muhammad Altaf Butt, Sheikh Abdul Mateen, Sheikh Muhammad Yaqoob, Javed Butt, Nisar Mirza, Ijaz Rahmani, Raja Shaheen, Haji Muhammad Sultan, Zahid Ashraf, Chaudhry Shaheen, Mian Muzaffar, Zahid Safi, Imtiaz Wani, Sheikh Abdul Majid, Nazir Karnahi, Adeel Mushtaq, Muhammad Ashraf Dar, Mushtaq Ahmed Butt and others were present at the prayer meeting.
