Muslim hotel owner, son brutally beaten in BJP-ruled Bihar after false beef allegations

Patna : A Muslim hotel owner and his minor son were brutally beaten, humiliated and forced to publicly apologize by a group of Hindutva goons in BJP-ruled Bihar state after being falsely accused of serving beef.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the incident took place on June 14 in Bihar’s Purnea district, where Mohammad Tajammul and his son were targeted by individuals linked to Hindutva outfits. Videos of the assault surfaced online days later, prompting police action.
The footage showed the father and son being struck with bamboo sticks, chairs and other objects while a crowd accused them of selling cow and buffalo meat. In some clips, they were seen being forced to perform sit-ups while holding their ears in a public act of humiliation.
Another widely circulated video showed Tajammul touching the feet of his attackers and pleading for the violence to stop.
Tajammul said that the incident began after several men ate at his roadside hotel and refused to pay their bill. He said the situation escalated when he demanded payment, after which the men began filming and accusing him of selling beef.
Following the circulation of the videos, police conducted a search at the hotel and confirmed that no evidence was found to support the allegations of beef or buffalo meat being served.
In an official statement, police described the claims circulating on social media as false and misleading. A criminal case has been registered against three named suspects and several unidentified individuals, while police said efforts were underway to locate and arrest those involved.
