Muslim woman forced to chant ‘Jai Shri Ram’ in Assam

Guwahati: A video has surfaced purportedly showing a Muslim woman being forced to chant the Hindutva slogan “Jai Shri Ram” in BJP-ruled Assam.

According to Kashmir Media Service, the viral video, showing a Muslim woman being forced to chant “Jai Shri Ram” by a Hindu man, has sparked outrage on social media, with many users calling for an investigation into the alleged incident.

The video shows a man wearing a tilak asking the woman her name. After she identifies herself as “Maafia Akthara,” he appears to recognize her as a Muslim. He is then heard repeatedly instructing her to chant “Jai Shri Ram,” saying, “Say it properly. Jai Shri Ram. Say it loud. I can’t hear you.”

The woman appears to comply, but the circumstances leading up to the recording and what happened afterward remain unclear.

The clip has drawn widespread condemnation online, with several users describing it as an instance of religious intimidation.
One X user wrote, “How does making others chant JSR make your religion any good? This is what an inferiority complex looks like. This is how Muslims are harassed in India.”

Another user said, “Now imagine if Muslims forced someone to say ‘Allahu Akbar.’ But Muslims are not insecure like them.” KMS-8R
