IIOJK: Chargesheet against Yasin Malik, four others in false case filed

Srinagar: The State Investigation Agency (SIA) of Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir has filed a chargesheet against the illegally detained chairman of Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front Muhammad Yasin Malik, and four others in a 36-year-old false case.

According to Kashmir Media Service, the SIA has filed a 737-page charge sheet against Yasin Malik and four others in a special court in Srinagar after 36 years in the false case of kidnapping and murder of Kashmiri Pandit nurse “Sarla Bhatt”.

An SIA spokesperson said that the case was transferred to the SIA on March 18, 2024. According to the charge sheet, Sarla Bhatt was kidnapped from the Soura Institute of Medical Sciences in Srinagar on April 18, 1990. She was shot dead in Omar Colony, Srinagar after severe torture. The other four people included in the charge sheet filed by the SIA are JKLF leaders Abdul Hameed Sheikh, Ghulam Muhammad, Muhammad Yousuf and Khurshid Ahmed Chalko. Abdul Hameed Sheikh and Muhammad Yousuf died in the 1990s, while Ghulam Muhammad died in 2018.

It should be remembered that Yasin Malik was sentenced to life imprisonment by a Delhi court in a false case and is currently lodged in the infamous Tihar Jail in New Delhi.

The Indian investigation agency has filed a petition in the court to commute Yasin Malik’s life sentence to death, and the hearing on it is ongoing.
