Rajouri military operation enters 39th day

Srinagar: The massive and violent cordon and search operation, named ‘Operation Sheruwali’, entered its 39th day in Rajouri district of Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday.

According to Kashmir Media Service, the Indian Army, paramilitary Central Reserve Police Force, elite commandos, and police are conducting extensive searches in the forested terrain of the Mughlan and Manjakote areas.

Residents of nearby villages continued to hear intermittent firing by Indian forces from inside the forest. The Indian forces also searched several natural caves in the area but have not found anything so far. The forests of Rajouri and Poonch in the Pir Panjal region have numerous natural caves.

General Officer Commanding of the White Knight Corps, Lt Gen P.K. Mishra, recently visited the headquarters of the Counter Insurgency Force (Romeo) to review the prevailing security situation and assess operational preparedness.

The Indian Army’s Chief of Defence Staff, General N.S. Raja Subramani, also visited Rajouri and Poonch and directed the intensification of operations. The area remains fully cordoned off with no media access, while locals are being interrogated inside their homes.
