Protests spread in Chhatisgarh over BJP leader’s blasphemous remarks
Rajnandgaon : Protests continued across several parts of India over blasphemous remarks attributed to a BJP Minority Morcha leader, Nazia Elahi Khan.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the latest demonstration was held in Chhattisgarh’s Rajnandgaon district where a large number of Muslim women gathered outside the District Collector’s office and submitted a memorandum to the chief minister.
The protesters said the remarks had hurt religious sentiments of Muslims and sparked anger within the community. They demanded a fair inquiry and urged authorities to take appropriate legal action if any violation of law is established.
Women carrying placards and banners at the protest expressed concern that comments targeting religious figures and sacred texts could damage communal harmony. The memorandum stated that offensive remarks against any religion or revered figures can increase tensions between communities.
District officials received the memorandum and assured it would be forwarded to the state government. The demonstration concluded peacefully.
