Pradhan’s resignation victory for youth: Mehbooba Mufti
Srinagar: In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, Peoples Democratic Party president Mehbooba Mufti has welcomed the resignation of Indian Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, describing it as a victory for the youth who had been protesting over the paper scandal.
According to Kashmir Media Service, speaking to the media in Srinagar, Mufti said the resignation reflected the determination of young people who staged peaceful protests despite hardships. “I think it’s a victory for the youth. The youth who stood there for so many days, hungry and thirsty, and they absolutely did not indulge in any violence,” she said.
Mufti recalled the reception she received from the protesting students during her visit to the demonstration site.
Calling Pradhan’s resignation a significant development, Mufti said the resignation also carried a broader political message that “polarisation and the Hindu-Muslim card cannot work beyond a point.
On occupied Jammu and Kashmir, she said the people of the territory deserved more than the restoration of their basic rights as they had suffered immensely over the years. “The people of Jammu and Kashmir should get more than just their basic rights because they have lost a lot,” she said, urging the youth to also raise issues concerning occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
