CJP founder questions integrity of India’s election commission
New Delhi: Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) founder Abhijeet Dipke has questioned the functioning of the Election Commission, saying stronger accountability is needed to safeguard the integrity of India’s electoral process.
According to Kashmir Media Service, in a post on social media, Dipke alleged that electoral manipulation would continue unless the poll body is made accountable. He said elections must reflect the will of the people and expressed concern over the manner in which the voting process is being managed.
“Democracy is weakened when questions are raised about how elections are conducted,” Dipke said. He further remarked that earlier “voters decided who would form the government, but today the government is deciding who gets to vote.” According to him, such a trend is not in line with the principles of a healthy democracy.
His comments come amid an ongoing political debate over the Election Commission, voter rolls, and election administration. Opposition parties and several civil society groups have raised similar concerns in recent months. Dipke’s remarks have sparked fresh discussion on social media regarding electoral transparency and institutional accountability. Supporters backed his call for reforms, while others dismissed the allegations as politically motivated.
