India’s normalcy mantra in IIOJK belies ground realities: APHC

Srinagar: The All Parties Hurriyat Conference has said that India’s claims of normalcy and peace in occupied Jammu and Kashmir are far removed from the ground realities, where Kashmiris continue to face military repression, raids, cordon-and-search operations and arrests.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the APHC spokesman, Advocate Abdul Rashid Minhas, in a statement in Srinagar said the Modi regime was deliberately projecting a false image of normalcy in IIOJK to mislead the international community and conceal the grim situation prevailing in the occupied territory.
The Hurriyat said daily raids, CASOs, arrests, questioning and surveillance by Indian forces and investigative agencies had exposed New Delhi’s hollow normalcy narrative. It said the massive deployment of Indian troops had transformed the occupied territory into a highly militarized zone, where the Kashmiri people continue to live under constant fear and pressure.
The APHC said unprecedented Indian repression had created a suffocating environment in the occupied territory, with fundamental freedoms severely restricted and political dissent subjected to coercive measures. It maintained that India’s so-called normalcy was nothing more than a cruel deception designed to hide its continued denial of the Kashmiri people’s political rights.
The Hurriyat body said New Delhi’s normalcy propaganda was also aimed at misleading the world about the Kashmir dispute and diverting international attention from the human rights violations being committed against Kashmiris. It urged the international community, particularly the United Nations, to closely monitor the situation in IIOJK and hold India accountable for its actions.
The APHC stressed that lasting peace and stability in South Asia could not be achieved by suppressing the Kashmiri people or imposing a militarized version of normalcy on them. It said India’s continued denial of the Kashmiris’ right to self-determination remained a major obstacle to regional peace.
The spokesman reiterated that the Kashmir dispute must be resolved in accordance with the relevant United Nations resolutions and the aspirations of the Kashmiri people. He said Kashmiris must be given an opportunity to freely decide their political future so that genuine peace, stability and normalcy could be established in IIOJK and lasting peace ensured in South Asia.
