BJP regime avoided answers on key issues in Indian Parliament: Hussain
New Delhi : Congress Rajya Sabha member Dr. Syed Naseer Hussain has said the BJP-led Indian government evaded answers on several key issues raised by the opposition during the monsoon session of Parliament.
According to Kashmir Media Service, addressing a press conference in Srinagar, Hussain said the Modi government failed to respond to concerns including police action against students protesting at New Delhi’s Jantar Mantar, irregularities in Ram Temple donations, and issues related to ethanol blending.
On the student protests, the Congress MP said Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and other senior party leaders had to sit at the Parliament Street police station for about six hours before an FIR was registered over the July 20 firing on protesters. He said a student hit by more than 200 pellets had approached police with his parents and friends, but the FIR was delayed for several days.
“Who ordered the firing against the students?” Hussain asked, adding that Indian Home Minister Amit Shah should clarify the matter since Delhi Police reports to the Home Ministry. He criticised Shah for not making a statement in Parliament on the issue during the session.
Referring to the Ram Temple, Hussain cited allegations of irregularities involving gold, silver, jewellery, cash and other offerings made by devotees. He demanded a judicial inquiry into the matter.
