Hate speech, BJP leader says Bhatkal mosque will meet Babri Masjid fate
Bengaluru: In a hate speech, Bharatiya Janata Party BJP leader and Member of Indian parliament, Anantkumar Hegde, has said that just as the Babri Masjid was destroyed, Bhatkal’s mosque in Karnataka will meet a similar fate.
Anantkumar Hegde, who is also former Indian Union Minister, said, “Like Babri Masjid was demolished, Chinnada Palli mosque will be demolished in Bhatkal. The media can write it as a threat, but we don’t care. But, we will do it. This is not the decision of Anantkumar Hegde, but it is the decision of the Hindu community.”
As per Indian media reports, Hegde also said that “the Hindu community won’t rest until more mosques are reclaimed”.
He also said that “former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi and Congress leader Sanjay Gandhi were cursed with cow slaughter, adding that ‘Indira Gandhi was shot dead on Gopasthami day,’ a result of the curse by the revered ascetic Karpatri Maharaj during a significant agitation for the ban on cow slaughter.
Congress leaders, including chief minister Siddaramaiah and culture minister Shivaraj Tangadagi, have criticised Hegde over his speech. The latter called him a “dog,” the Hindu reported.
Earlier, Karnataka Congress leader, S Manohar, lodged a complaint against the BJP leader at the High Ground Police Station.
Meanwhile, police have filed a case invoking sections related to hate speech and an attempt to create unrest in the district against Hegde.
