Woman hotelier refuses to serve Dalit youths in Karnataka
Ballari: Despite untouchability being outlawed, the practice continues unchecked in India. In one such case which has come to light recently, a woman hotel owner at Guttiganur village in Kurugod taluk in Karnataka state refused to serve food to Dalits.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the woman reportedly said that she would rather close the hotel than serve the Dalit youths. A video of the owner insulting Dalit youths has gone viral on social media. In the video, the youths can be seen objecting to her conduct.
This is not the incident of its kind. The insulting practice of untouchability prevails across India. Earlier, news had come to light that Dalits were not allowed in hotels and salons in Dharwad, Karnataka.
