NIA creating tension through unnecessary searches in Tamil Nadu: MLA Jawahirullah
Chennai: The Manithaneya Makkal Katchi’s (MMK) President, MH Jawahirullah has said that National Investigation Agency (NIA) is creating unnecessary tension under the guise of searches across various locations in Tamil Nadu ahead of the Lok Sabha elections.
According to Kashmir Media Service, speaking in the Assembly, MLA Jawahirullah highlighted concerns regarding the dreaded action of NIA, particularly its arrests of certain individuals.
Urging an end to what he called NIA’s unnecessary searches, he emphasized the low conviction rate in such cases, which stood at about 1%.
Flagging certain issues facing the minorities, he said there were restrictions in building mosques even and urged the Tamil Nadu government to remove such obstacles.
