Panelists emphasize challenges faced by IIOJK women
Islamabad: A webinar, “Women’s Rights: A Journey Towards Equality,” was jointly organized by Kashmir Institute of International Relations (KIIR) and International Muslim Women Union (IMWU) on the occasion of International Women’s Day, today.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the distinguished speakers of the webinar were Marry Scully, an American human rights defender, Naila Sharif, Chairperson of the Jammu Kashmir Self Determination Movement, UK; Dr Fara from Australia, Sahibzadi Mardiya Sultana Faizpuri, Azad Kashmir Commission of National Status of Women; UK, Dr Saira Shah, Prof at Mirpur University of Science and Technology and Dr Shaheen Akhter from National Defence University.
The panelists emphasized the challenges faced by Kashmiri women, highlighting the urgent need for justice and empowerment in the region. They underscored the importance of amplifying the voices of Kashmiri women and ensuring their rights are respected and upheld.
The discussion delved into the multifaceted issues affecting women in conflict zones, shedding light on the ongoing struggle for dignity, justice, and freedom. Through their insightful contributions, the panelists reiterated the significance of International Women’s Day as a catalyst for positive change and urged for continued efforts to advance women’s rights worldwide.
