Protest in Jammu against snatching of Kashmiris’ democratic rights by Modi govt
Jammu: A protest was held in Jammu against the Modi-led Indian government for denying democratic rights to the people of occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the protest was organized by National Panthers Party activists, who were led by the party president Harsh Dev Singh, in Jammu city. The protest coincided with the visit of Election Commission of India (ECI) to Jammu.
The protesters raised slogans against the Modi government and its installed administration in IIOJK for denying democratic rights to the Kashmiri people. They further criticized the ECI for remaining a mute spectator for the last around 6 years when the IIOJK Assembly was dissolved in 2018 and for abdicating its responsibility to restore a democratically elected govt in the territory.
Speaking on the occasion, Harsh Dev Singh lambasted the IIOJK administration for conferring undue favours upon BJP and its allies while subjecting the opposition parties to most hostile discrimination. He said that pliant officers owing allegiance to the BJP had been assigned prominent positions from where they could help the saffron party in elections and promote their political prospects.
