BJP govt planning to sell Ladakh’s mountains, says Sonam Wangchuk
Leh : Climate activist Sonam Wangchuk has said that the Indian government is planning to unlawfully sell Ladakh’s mountains to industrialists and mining companies.
According to Kashmir Media Service, Wangchuk, currently on a hunger strike for nearly two weeks in Leh town highlighted broken promises regarding Ladakh’s democratic rights and the disregard for assurances made during elections. He emphasized the demoralization among Ladakhis due to the lack of democratic institutions and local reservations.
People feel betrayed, he noted.
Wangchuk stressed the necessity of a multi-party legally binding agreement and proposed plans for protests, supported by international communities, to raise awareness about their grievances.
