1,250 RSS schools imparting Hindutva teachings to students in IIOJK
Srinagar: The Rashtriya Sewa Bharati, an NGO associated with the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) is running a network of around 1,250 schools in the Kashmir Valley of occupied Jammu and Kashmir to impart Hindutva teachings to Kashmiri children.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the informal school education system named as Ekal Vidyalayas is promoting a Hindu agenda among Kashmiri Muslim students. Locals complain that the schools are using education as a tool to convert Muslims to Hinduism.
The schools are teaching students about the superiority of Hinduism and the inferiority of other religions. They have also been promoting the idea of a Hindu Rashtra (Hindu nation).
“The RSS is using these schools to spread its Hindutva ideology in Kashmir,” said a local activist. “They are trying to brainwash our children and turn them against their own religion.”
Parents have demanded that the schools be shut down and the teachers be arrested.
According to a senior associate with the project, the schools have been successful in preventing students from joining pro-freedom activities, which he called anti-India activities.
