Fire leaves two families homeless on Eid in Bandipora
Srinagar: Two residential houses and a shop were completely gutted in a blaze in Bandipora district of Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the fire broke out in one of the houses and quickly spread, resulting in the destruction of two residential houses and a bakery shop in the Ashtangoo area of the district during the intervening night of Tuesday and Wednesday.
An official stated that the Fire and Emergency department managed to bring the raging fire under control after intense efforts.
“Unfortunately, before it was contained, the fire had already devastated several residential houses and two shops owned by Mohammad Sultan Ganie and Gulam Mohammad Ganie, leaving them reduced to ashes,” he said.
“Despite the valiant efforts of locals who rushed to the scene to extinguish the flames, the damage was extensive,” the official added, mentioning that the cause of the fire could not be immediately determined.
