Srinagar: Political parties in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir have complained that Indian forces deployed in the Srinagar-Pulwama constituency are harassing political activists and compelling people to participate in what many see as sham polls staged by India in the disputed territory to manipulate world opinion.
The Kashmir Media Service has reported that this is for the first time after August 2019 when RSS and BJP led government of Narendra Modi has abrogated Article 370 and 35-A to deplete the special status of IIOJK. World took notice of Indian suppression asked India to ensure the special status of IIOJK as internationally recognized disputed territory.
Polling started this morning with very least attendance of voters and political parties have leveled allegations on forces of harassing workers.
Taking to ‘X’ platform, Peoples Democratic Party leader, Naeem Akhtar, tweeted that Ashiq Hussain Rather, the party’s election agent for polling station Government Higher Secondary School, Dadasura (A) was arrested by Awantipora police from his house around mid-night.
PDP leader, Waheed Para, also appealed to the Election Commission through his tweet, alleging harassment by officials at various places by dismissing duly signed agent slips from the party’s chief agent, Mohit Bhan, which he said was causing unwarranted problems to their polling agents.
Earlier, National Conference leader Mehdi also tweeted, “the village in Pulwama where my colleague and Pulwama constituency in charge Khaleel Bandh resides, is suddenly surrounded by the forces and CASO launched in the village a night prior to polling day. If the reports from my colleagues are to be believed, some arrests are also taking.”
