Srinagar-Jammu highway to remain closed for unspecified reasons today
Jammu: Vehicular traffic will remain suspended on the Srinagar-Jammu highway, the only surface connection to the outside world, today, for unspecified reasons, according to an official from the civil administration.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the traffic department advisory did not specify the reasons for the suspension at key points including Nagrota, Jammu, Udhampur, and Qazigund, but confirmed that the highway would be closed.
Traffic authorities announced that no vehicles, including those carrying perishable goods, livestock, or security forces, will be allowed on either side of NH-44 on Tuesday. All vehicular traffic towards Kashmir, Patnitop, Doda, Kishtwar, Ramban, and Gool Banihal was halted from Monday 5 pm at Nagrota and from 6 pm at Jakhani, Udhampur.
Similarly, traffic heading towards Jammu, Banihal, Ramban, Doda-Kishtwar, and Udhampur was stopped from 6 pm on Monday at Qazigund, Kashmir.
