IFJHR Chairman files petition against Indian army before HR bodies

Srinagar: The Chairman of International Forum for Justice Human Rights Jammu and Kashmir, Muhammad Ahsan Untoo, submitted a petition before the Chairman of National Human Rights Commission, New Delhi, Amnesty international, UK, Human Rights Watch, Switzerland, UNOHRC, Geneva, European Union, Brasília and International Criminal Court against the Indian Army.

According to Kashmir Media Service, as reported by the Indian media, police have invoked Indian Penal Code (IPC) sections relating to rioting, robbery, kidnapping, and attempt to murder against the army personnel.

The FIR, registered at Kupwara police station, invokes the IPC sections, including 186 (voluntary obstruction of public servant in discharge of public duty), 332 (voluntarily causing harm in order to deter public servant from doing duty), 307 (attempt to murder), 342 (wrongful confinement of a person), 147 (rioting), 149 (every member of unlawful assembly guilty of offence in prosecution of common object), 392 (robbery), 397 (use of deadly weapon during a robbery or dacoity) and 365 (kidnapping and abduction with intent secretly and wrongfully to confine person.

Muhammad Ahsan Untoo demanded an investigation into the incidents without any influence and approach. He said Indian Army is involved from the beginning in these cases as Home Minister Amit Shah and Modi have already given a free hand to forces’ personnel to kill, disappear, rape and torture the people of occupied Kashmir.
