Kashmiris being victimized for demanding right to self-determination: APHC
Srinagar: The All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) expressing serious concern over the deteriorating political and human rights situation in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir has said that the Kashmiri people are suffering persecution at the hands of Indian government led by Narendra Modi for demanding their birthright to self-determination.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the APHC spokesman Advocate Abdul Rashid Minhas in a statement in Srinagar while denouncing raids, cordon and search operations, arrests, seizure of properties and other atrocities in IIOJK said New Delhi was using these brutal measures to silence the legitimate political voices in the occupied territory.
He also said the Hurriyat leadership, youth and activists are being put behind bars for their political beliefs, with top leadership being implicated in false cases. He said the continued illegal detention of Hurriyet leaders in Tihar and other jails is the example of the BJP regime’s sinister designs to discredit and silence the Hurriyat leadership.
He said that the BJP-led Indian government was using its dreaded probe agencies like National Investigation Agency (NIA) and State Investigation Agency as a weapon to implicate the Kashmiris in false cases to silence their voice for freedom.
The APHC said besides snatching rights and economy of local people BJP regime have miserably failed to address even basic issues of the people as a result of which people are living miserable life. The onus is on the BJP which besides being in power in India is directly ruling occupied Kashmir through its handpicked Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and its military and police establishment.
The APHC spokesman said that the world human rights organizations must take notice of unfair trials of Kashmiri Hurriyat leaders and activists in the biased Indian courts. He also urged the international community to play its role in facilitating a just and peaceful settlement of the Kashmir dispute in accordance with the relevant UN Security Council resolutions and the wishes of the Kashmiri people for ensuring durable peace in South Asia.
