JIH chief hails Indian election verdict as mandate against hate & divisive politics
New Delhi, June 07 (KMS): Jamaat-e-Islami Hind (JIH) President Syed Sadatullah Husaini, congratulating the people of India for their wise voting in the recent polls, has characterized the election results as a mandate against hate and divisive politics.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the JIH chief in a press statement in New Delhi said that despite a disinformation campaign and polarizing rhetoric, voters chose inclusive development and social justice.
He said, “Many of the highly publicized election speeches were completely polarising and divisive, disregarding morals and probity. Against all these odds, the people of the country exercised their franchise wisely and conveyed their message loud and clear”.
The main change-makers in these elections, the statement said, were peasants, farmers, backward classes, and religious minorities, proving they cannot be overlooked by any political party. “Every political formation must include all sections of society and avoid becoming a sectarian and divisive force representing only a section of the population,” it said.
Husaini noted that the election results show a preference for constitutional values like federalism, decentralization, and separation of powers. He emphasized that the new government must address real issues like the economic slowdown, inflation, and unemployment, and adopt an inclusive approach to all sections of society.
He also stressed the need to restore faith in autonomous democratic institutions, which have been damaged by executive influence. He called for wide consultation and consideration of all stakeholders’ opinions in law-making.
The JIH president concluded that the Constitution envisions a welfare state committed to social justice and fraternity, and demanded that the new government respect this vision and work towards the development and well-being of all citizens, particularly the marginalized.
