Trinamool Congress worker shot dead in Murshidabad
Kolkata: A Trinamool Congress worker was shot dead in Murshidabad, West Bengal.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the incident has touched off tensions in the area with the Trinamool Congress saying the Bharatiya Janata Party had a hand in the killing.
Sanatan Ghosh, a Trinamool Congress worker, was returning home from Ghazipur to Para village on a motorbike on Sunday night when he was stopped by assailants who shot him at close range.
Local residents, alerted by the sound of gunshots and screams, found him in a pool of blood. He was immediately taken to Hariharpara Block Primary Health Centre, where doctors referred him to Murshidabad Medical College Hospital in Baharampur.
Ghosh, who was in critical condition after sustaining multiple gunshot wounds, succumbed to his injuries during treatment.
