Asaduddin Owaisi condemns Modi regime for erasing Babri Masjid from history

Hyderabad: All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) chief Asaduddin Owaisi has criticized the BJP-led Indian government for its decision to replace the term “Babri Masjid” with “three-domed structure” in history textbooks.

According to Kashmir Media Service, Indian Ministry of Education-controlled National Council for Educational Research and Training (NCERT) in its latest revised textbook for political science for students of class 12 has left Babri Masjid out, referring to it only as a ‘three-dome structure.

Asaduddin Owaisi in a post on micro-blogging site X said, “The NCERT has decided to replace Babri Masjid with the words ‘three-domed structure.’ It has also decided to call the Ayodhya judgment an example of ‘consensus.’

The Hyderabad MP argued that this change misrepresents the truth about the demolition of the mosque in 1992, which the Indian Supreme Court has termed an egregious criminal act.

Owaisi emphasized the importance of teaching children the accurate history of the country, stating that India’s children should know that a functioning masjid was desecrated in 1949 and then demolished by a Hindutva mob in 1992.

He warned that failing to learn from history can lead to repeating the same mistakes.

The AIMIM chief also criticized NCERT Director Dinesh Prasad Saklani’s defense of the modifications in references to Babri Masjid demolition and Gujarat anti-Muslim riots in school textbooks, which claimed that teaching about riots can create violent and depressed citizens. Owaisi countered that truth and accuracy matter in history textbooks, and that children should learn from the past to build a better future.
