BJP activists attack hospital treating madrasa patients in Madhya Pradesh’s Medak
Bhopal: In a horrifying incident, BJP activists attacked a hospital in Madhya Pradesh’s Medak town, which was treating Muslim patients from a madrasa, who were earlier injured in an assault by Hindutva goons.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the Orthopaedic Hospital Medak was vandalized by 150-200 workers of Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) and its youth wing, the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM), leaving medical staff and patients traumatized.
The anti-Muslim violence erupted in Medak town after the management of Madrasa Minhaj ul Uloom purchased cattle for sacrifice for Eid-ul-Adha, which infuriated the right-wing Hindutva organizations. The Hindutva goons targeted nearby shops owned by Muslims and later attacked the madrasa, injuring several individuals who were rushed to the hospital for treatment.
Dr. Naveen, an orthopedic surgeon at the hospital, described the traumatic experience in a video shared on social media. “We were treating the wounded patients when a mob of about 100 to 150 people stormed the hospital, pelting stones and damaging the window panes. Furniture was damaged, and a staff member suffered a fractured leg,” he recounted, his voice shaking with emotion.
In the aftermath of the anti-Muslim violence, Medak remains tense, with additional police forces deployed in the area. The Muslim community is in shock, grappling with the violence that disrupted their lives and the assault on a place meant to heal and save lives.
