APHC slams BJP, RSS for anti-Kashmir agenda in IIOJK
Srinagar: The All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) has strongly condemned the actions and policies of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), its military and police establishment, and its local affiliates in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) who are advancing the anti-Kashmir agenda of the Hindutva patron organization, Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), in the territory.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the APHC leaders talking to media men in Srinagar characterized Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent visit to the territory as insulting, likening it to rubbing salt in the wounds of the oppressed Kashmiris. The leaders described the BJP regime and the Indian military and police establishment as criminal entities in the eyes of the people of IIOJK.
They criticized the BJP for its role in the abrogation of Articles 370 and 35A of the Indian Constitution, which had granted special status to Jammu and Kashmir. They highlighted that these actions have led to the imprisonment of thousands of Kashmiri Hurriyat leaders, activists, journalists, and human rights defenders. The APHC called on the United Nations to recognize and address India’s continued denial of Kashmiris’ right to self-determination.
The APHC leaders highlighted that the Kashmiris only demanded the withdrawal of Indian military forces from their motherland and the conduct of a free and fair referendum under UN supervision.
The leaders said that the visits of brutal and oppressive Indian rulers to the occupied territory are meaningless to freedom-loving Kashmiris. They also criticized international summits and guided tours organized by the Indian government in the occupied territory, arguing these events, conducted under the cover of lacs of occupation troops, are designed to create a misleading impression of peace and normalcy and falsely suggest that the Kashmiris are content under Indian rule.
They also said that Indian forces’ personnel were killing innocent Kashmiris in fake encounters and using its notorious probe agencies like the National Investigation Agency, Enforcement Directorate and State Investigation Agency to seize properties of Kashmiris and suppress dissent.
The APHC leaders emphasized that it is in India’s interest as well to shun its stubborn and rigid approach and grant the Kashmiris their birth right to self-determination, adding such a move would benefit not only New Delhi itself but also the whole south Asian region.
