Muslim voters attacked, stopped from voting in Uttarakhand’s Manglaur

Manglaur: Several Muslim voters were injured and stopped from voting during a clash that occurred between groups in Uttarakhand’s Manglaur during the by-election voting on Wednesday.

According to Kashmir Media Service, in videos circulated on social media, many Muslims, including the elderly, are seen attacked, with blood on their shirts. Many said that they were stopped from voting.

Manglaur Congress candidate Qazi Nizamuddin said that miscreants were openly firing.

Senior Congress leader and three time MP Nizamuddin said, “Miscreants have been openly firing. This is the murder of democracy. There is also news of someone being injured. There was no ambulance or any other measures taken to take the injured to hospital.”

“Bullets were fired to stop weak people, voters of Congress. People have been injured. Our candidate Qazi Nizamuddin staked his life to send them to hospital. Such incidents are also being reported from other places. Congress voters are being intimidated, stopped from reaching the booths. It is murder of democracy and worrying. I urge people to support us in saving democracy. People want to vote but are intimidated. It is a very serious situation,” said former Uttarakhand Chief Minister and Congress leader Harish Rawat.
