Omar Abdullah slams Article 370 abrogation, calls it BJP’s hidden agenda

Srinagar: Omar Abdullah, National Conference Vice President has criticized the Modi-led Indian government’s move to abrogate Articles 370 and 35A saying it was driven by a hidden agenda and had no connection to armed struggle in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

According to Kashmir Media Service, Omar Abdullah addressing a press conference argued that if IIOJK’s special status had been the cause of armed struggle, the region would not be experiencing the current wave of fresh attacks.

Regarding the spike in attacks in IIOJK, Omar pointed fingers at the BJP. “This question should be asked to the BJP, who claim that all militancy is connected with Article 370. After the removal of 370, they promised complete peace in Jammu and Kashmir. The current situation proves that they are careless and not paying attention to their work,” he said.

The NC leader addressed various issues, including the Indian claim of holding elections in IIOJK, referencing to the Indian Supreme Court’s directive to complete elections before September 30.

He criticized the IIOJK administartion for its lack of focus and accused superior officers of neglecting their duties, leading to the worsening security situation.

Omar Abdullah emphasized that the increase in attacks is a result of Indian government negligence rather part of BJP’s hidden agenda.
