AILU condemns arrest of Advocate Ronga
Srinagar: The All India Lawyers Union (AILU) has condemned and protested the arrest and detention of President of High Court Bar Association and senior Advocate N A Ronga in Srinagar, Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
According to Kashmir Media Service, Advocate Nazir Ahmed Ronga was arrested by Indian police from his residence in Srinagar on Thursday and has been booked under the black law, Public Safety Act (PSA).
He has since been transferred to Kot Bhalwal jail in Jammu. His arrest came shortly after the issuance of an election notice for the Bar Association election, raising concerns about the suppression of democratic processes.
The AILU described the arrest as highly disturbing and condemnable, characterizing it as undemocratic and a further instance of suppression and oppression of dissent by the Modi’s BJP regime.
It expressed strong solidarity with the protesting lawyers and citizens of Jammu and Kashmir, condemning the arbitrary and authoritarian actions taken against Nazir Ronga.
