Maharashtra legislative council has no Muslim representatives for first time
Mumbai: For the first time in its 87-year history, the Maharashtra Legislative Council will have no Muslim representatives.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the terms of the two current Muslim councillors are expiring, and no Muslim candidates have been fielded for the upcoming elections.
This lack of representation has raised concerns among Muslim leaders and communities, who are demanding adequate representation in the next elections.
The exclusion of Muslims from the Legislative Council may push the community towards parties like AIMIM and has sparked fears of political alienation and polarization.
