Socio-political groups in IIOJK threaten to go on relay hunger strike over giving more powers to LG
Jammu: Several socio-political groups held a meeting in Jammu, Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, over the Indian Home Ministry’s recent order giving more powers to the Lieutenant Governor and threatened a chain hunger strike if the order was not revoked by the end of this month.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the meeting also expressed serious concern over the deteriorating human rights situation in the territory.
The meeting was among others attended by former minister Gulchain Singh Charak, former MP Abdul Rashid, Narendra Gupta of Congress, Vijay Lochan of National Conference) and Varinder Singh Sonu of Peoples Democratic Party.
The representatives of the Communist Party of India-Marxist, International Democratic Party President ID Khajuria and various social activists, including lawyers, also attended the meeting.
