Authorities’ apathy towards education in IIOJK: Kulgam schools without principals, headmasters
Srinagar: The neglect of the education sector in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) has become glaringly evident as 16 higher secondary schools and 21 other schools in Kulgam district are operating without principals and headmasters.
According to Kashmir Media Service, key administrative positions, including the Chief Education Officer (CEO), Deputy CEO, three Zonal Education Officers (ZEOs), four Zonal Education Planning Officers (ZEPOs), and 124 lecturer posts, have also been vacant for months.
This alarming lack of leadership has severely impacted the functioning of these educational institutions, leaving parents concerned about the quality of their children’s education.
Parents have voiced their frustration, pointing out that the absence of proper supervision is detrimental to the educational environment.
District Development Council (DDC) Chairman Mohammad Afzal Parray highlighted the issue, stating, “I have submitted a memorandum to Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha regarding these concerns, but unfortunately, no action has been taken.”
The ongoing neglect and indifference towards the educational sector in IIOJK raise serious questions about the priorities of the occupation authorities. The lack of prompt action not only undermines the educational prospects of the Kashmiri youth but also reflects a broader disregard for the territory’s development and well-being.
