Indian govt’s normalcy claims in IIOJK exposed as schools close in Jammu

Jammu, July: The Indian government’s claims of restoring normalcy and peace in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) have been contradicted by the closure of numerous educational institutions, including Indian Army-run schools, in the Jammu division.

According to Kashmir Media Service, the shutdown, prompted by a high alert issued across the Jammu region, affects Indian Army’s Public and Goodwill Schools, as well as Kendriya Vidyalayas located within military cantonments in Jammu province and along the Jammu-Pathankot Highway. The closure includes at least a dozen army schools, notably in areas like Sunjuwan and Domana, as well as those situated along the highway.

Indian media outlets report that intelligence agencies have issued specific warnings about potential attacks on schools, prompting the closures as a precautionary measure.

Official sources indicate that the IIOJK administration, in coordination with Indian security agencies, has decided to keep all Army and Kendriya Vidyalaya schools, along with other cantonment schools, closed until further notice. The authorities have said that the schools will reopen once the situation stabilizes and normalcy is restored.

Additionally, a high alert has been issued for all defense installations along the Jammu-Pathankot highway following intelligence reports of potential attacks.
