Cultural erasure: Modi regime renames 45 educational institutions, roads in IIOJK
Srinagar: As part of its ongoing efforts to erase Muslim identity of Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, the BJP-led Indian government has announced the renaming of 45 educational establishments, roads, and a playground after the names of Indian forces’ personnel and others killed in various incidents in the territory.
According to Kashmir Media Service, New Delhi-installed IIOJK administration issued an order directing concerned administrative secretaries to take immediate action, including updating records to reflect the changes.
Divisional Commissioners in Kashmir and Jammu will oversee the process, while Deputy Commissioners will organize events to mark the renaming of these infrastructure and assets, the order further said.
Notably, this is not an isolated incident, as the RSS-backed Modi regime has already renamed hundreds of educational institutions, roads, and prominent places in occupied Jammu and Kashmir in recent years, sparking concerns about cultural erasure and identity suppression.
