Islamabad: Indian media is increasingly becoming a mouthpiece for the RSS/BJP, especially concerning the situation of Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).

A report released by Kashmir Media Service, today, said the RSS-aligned media’s coverage of IIOJK is marked by fabricated and misleading stories about the Kashmiris’ freedom struggle.

It said since August 2019, Indian media’s reporting on Kashmir has shown blatant partisanship and bias. Bharatiya Janata Party-influenced media is disseminating falsehoods about the real conditions in the occupied territory, it added.

The report said the portrayal of Kashmir in Indian media consistently distorts the actual ground realities. It said Indian media uses fake news to distract international attention from human rights violations by Indian troops in occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

It lamented that the Indian media excelled at spreading misinformation and fake news, adding the media coverage of Kashmir by Indian outlets represents a severe breach of journalistic integrity.

The report said Indian journalists and TV anchors align their narratives with the Modi regime’s official stance on Kashmir and the aggressive and hateful rhetoric of Indian media supports Modi’s authoritarian agenda in occupied Kashmir.
