BJP skips contest in key IIOJK assembly seats, fearing humiliating defeat
Srinagar: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has decided not to contest several key seats, including 8 valley seats, in the upcoming elections for the occupied Jammu and Kashmir assembly, as the party fears a humiliating defeat.
According to Kashmir Media Service, a total of 279 nominations have been filed for 24 seats in the first phase of polls. However, the BJP is noticeably absent in several crucial constituencies.
Political analysts say that the BJP’s decision to skip contesting these seats suggests that the party anticipates a massive loss and wants to avoid embarrassment.
The move has left many wondering if the BJP is losing ground and is no longer confident of its electoral prospects.
