Rajouri residents protest stalled construction of vital bridge
Jammu: Hundreds of people took to the streets in Rajouri district of Jammu region in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, protesting against the apathy of Indian authorities towards the sufferings of the local population due to the lack of a bridge in the Peer Panjal area.
According to Kashmir Media Service, led by social activists Hema Kant Sharma and Nazam Mir, the protesters criticized the authorities for abandoning the construction work on the crucial Badala-Mang bridge.
The project, aimed at connecting the Rajouri-Jammu highway to the Panj Peer area, has been stalled for five years, causing frustration among locals.
Sharma and Mir highlighted the impact of the abandonment of the project, including increased traffic jams and longer routes for residents. The protesters warned authorities that if construction work is not resumed promptly, they will escalate their demonstrations, including a potential blockade of the Jammu-Poonch Highway.
