Widespread pretests in IIOJK over Hindutva priest’s blasphemous remarks
Srinagar: In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, widespread protests erupted in response to blasphemous remarks made by Hindutva priest Yati Narsinghanand.
According to Kashmir Media Service, following congregational Friday prayers, people took to the streets in various locations, including Srinagar, Budgam, Baramulla, Bandipora, Kupwara, and across southern Kashmir.
Demonstrators demanded the immediate arrest of the Hindu priest and called for stringent legal action against him. Similar protests were reported in the Rajouri and Poonch districts, as well as other Muslim-majority areas in the Jammu region. The protest call was give by the All Parties Hurriyat Conference.
Speakers at the protests condemned Narsinghanand’s history of anti-Muslim rhetoric, criticizing the BJP-led Indian government for its inaction. They argued that this lack of response implies complicity and a disregard for the sentiments of the Muslim community. Protesters emphasized that his remarks not only offend Muslims globally but also undermine the sanctity of their faith.
The speakers insisted that accountability is crucial, stating, “The law must take its course to hold such offenders accountable.” They underscored the importance of respecting all religions as essential for maintaining communal harmony.
The demonstrators remain steadfast in their demand for justice, urging Indian authorities to take decisive action to prevent hate mongers like Narsinghanand to spew venom against Muslims and other religious minorities.
