Bihar plunges into turmoil: wave of violence claims lives of more politicians
Patna: A surge in political violence has gripped Bihar, leaving a trail of death and destruction in its wake.
According to Kashmir Media Service, in a chilling sequence of events, three more politicians have been killed and several others attacked in the past week alone, sparking widespread concern about the state’s deteriorating law and order situation and the Nitish Kumar-led government’s ability to ensure public safety.”
The recent spate of killings has sent shockwaves across Bihar. On September 9, BJP leader Munna Sharma was shot dead in Patna. Later that night, CPI(ML) leader Sunil Chandravanshi was also gunned down in Arwal district. In another incident, BJP leader Shashi Modi was seriously injured in a sword and crude bomb attack in Bhagalpur district.
These incidents are not isolated. Last month, a BJP leader was shot dead in Patna, while a Janata Dal-United leader was killed in Saharsa. The opposition has been quick to capitalize on these incidents, with RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav issuing a crime bulletin listing 105 serious crimes, including murder, rape, and extortion, in the past three months.
The escalating violence has put the Nitish Kumar government on the back foot, with the opposition questioning its ability to maintain law and order.
