Manipur in chaos as 40 students injured in escalated violence amid curfew, internet shutdown
Imphal: The people of Manipur are suffering under the iron-fisted rule of the current administration, with an indefinite curfew imposed and internet services suspended for five days.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the latest escalation in violence has left 40 students injured in clashes with security forces, who are accused of using excessive force.
The state government’s heavy-handed response to the protests has only exacerbated the situation, with residents barred from leaving their homes and mobile internet, broadband, and VPN services suspended. “This is a blatant attempt to silence the voices of the people and prevent the truth from coming out,” a local rights activist told the media.
The violence in Manipur has claimed nine lives and injured 15, with warring tribes using drones and rockets against each other. The government’s failure to address the root causes of the conflict has led to widespread anger and frustration among the people.
The deployment of additional CRPF battalions indicates that the government is more interested in maintaining its grip on power than in finding a peaceful solution to the crisis.
The speculation surrounding the imposition of President’s Rule suggests that the current administration has lost control of the situation.
