Mirwaiz extends Milad-un-Nabi greetings, slams IIOJK regime for holiday shift
Srinagar: Senior APHC leader Mirwaiz Umar Farooq has extended heartfelt greetings to Muslims worldwide on the occasion of Milad-un-Nabi, the blessed birth of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).
According to Kashmir Media Service, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq in a message from his residence in Srinagar where he is under house arrest emphasized that the Prophet’s teachings transformed human life and urged Muslims to follow his exemplary life to overcome global and local crises .
However, Mirwaiz criticized the occupation regime for creating confusion by shifting the official holiday from September 17 to September 16, calling it a disregard for the Muslim community and their religious sentiments. He noted that Milad-un-Nabi actually falls on Tuesday, September 17, this year.
Milad-un-Nabi commemorates the birth anniversary of Prophet Muhammad and is observed on the 12th day of Rabi’ al-Awwal in the Islamic calendar.
The day holds immense spiritual importance, and Muslims worldwide reflect on the Prophet’s teachings, offer special prayers, engage in charity, and adorn mosques and homes with colorful lights and green flags. K
