IIOJK authorities continue to place Mirwaiz under house arrest
Srinagar: The authorities in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir have continued to place All Parties Hurriyat Conference senior leader Mirwaiz Umar Farooq under house arrest for the third consecutive Friday.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the authorities prevented Mirwaiz Umar Farooq from going to Srinagar Jamia Masjid to deliver the sermon and offer prayers.
Mirwaiz Umar Farooq in a statement in Srinagar strongly condemned his continued undeclared and illegal house arrest and preventing him from going to Jamia Masjid, Srinagar, for delivering the Juma sermon.
He said claims of normalcy and peace in Jammu and Kashmir are broadcast day in and out, one wonders why he is detained at home and not allowed to move, and then the fact vehemently denied.
Mirwaiz Umar Farooq said repeated detentions are badly affecting his obligations as the Mirwaiz and his socio-educational initiatives. He said being a public person the authorities also prevent him from engaging with people socially and participating in their lives in grief and happiness.
He said he will be filing a rejoinder before the High Court concerning his ongoing lawsuit seeking permanent release from house arrest.
He also condoled the death of Mohammad Shafi Pandith and expressed solidarity with the bereaved family.
