Be it Gaza or IIOJK, atrocities against humanity can’t be tolerated anywhere: PM Shehbaz
New York: Prime Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has said that inhumane treatment and atrocities cannot be tolerated anywhere, be it Gaza or Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
According to Kashmir Media Service, Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif addressing the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York said there is not just a war going on in Gaza, innocent civilians are being systematically killed.
He started his speech with the verses of the Holy Quran and said that it is an honour for him to address the United Nations General Assembly for the second time as the Prime Minister.
He said the people of Jammu and Kashmir have long been demanding their inalienable right to self-determination, which was promised to them by the international community. He said that the Kashmir dispute is still on the agenda of the United Nations Security Council.
He emphasized on solving the lingering Kashmir dispute in accordance with the UN resolutions. He said the founder of Pakistan Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah supported the UN Kashmir resolutions. He said the situation in occupied Jammu and Kashmir under the illegal rule of India is very tense and serious. Kashmiris are being deprived of their own land.
In occupied Kashmir, he said, non-local people are being settled by giving lands. He said the Indian government is making nefarious attempts to turn the Muslim majority into a minority in occupied Kashmir. In 2019, India unilaterally and illegally revoked the special status of occupied Jammu and Kashmir. He said serious violations of human rights by India are continuing in the occupied territory.
Shehbaz Sharif said despite suffering extraordinary humanitarian atrocities, the morale of Kashmiris is high. He said despite all Indian atrocities, Kashmiri youth are following the legacy of Burhan Wani Shaheed. He said that lakhs of Indian soldiers are imposing terror on the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
He also urged India to withdraw the illegal measures of August 5, 2019. He further said Pakistan will give a decisive response to any Indian aggression. Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif said instead of trying to establish peace, the Indian leadership is making the situation worse.
He said India’s aggressive intentions are threatening the peace of the region. Unfortunately, India did not respond to Pakistan’s positive proposals, he added.
Reiterating Pakistan’s commitment to the United Nations Charter, Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif expressed concern over the ongoing Israeli aggression in Gaza. He strongly condemned the Israeli aggression in Gaza. He further remarked that the genocide of Palestinians in Gaza has shaken humanity to its core. He said that those who perpetuate the Israeli aggression on Gaza have blood on their hands. He said the blood of Palestinians will not go waste.
