Diasporas’ role crucial in highlighting Kashmir issue on International stage: President AJK
Islamabad: The President of Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Barrister Sultan Mahmood Chaudhry, has emphasized that all efforts should be made to highlight the Kashmir issue at the international level, and the role of Kashmiri Diaspora particularly in the UK, is crucial.
According to Kashmir Media Service, Barrister Sultan made these remarks during a meeting with Lord Qurban Hussain, a member of the British House of Lords at Kashmir House in Islamabad. He “urged overseas Kashmiris to raise their voices at international forums, including the British Parliament, to bring attention to the Kashmir issue and expose the ongoing atrocities committed by India in occupied Kashmir.
Barrister Sultan Chaudhry pointed out that since August 5, 2019, India has subjected the innocent people of Kashmir to severe oppression. He said that Kashmiris have been displaced from their own land, and India has started settling non-Kashmiri Hindus, aiming to change the demographic balance of the occupied territory.
He also highlighted that India is killing Kashmiri youth in fake encounters, blinding children and the elderly with pellet guns, and committing widespread sexual violence against women in occupied Kashmir. He condemned India’s brutal crackdown on the Kashmiri population for the past seven decades, stressing that it is the responsibility of Kashmiris worldwide, especially in the UK, to expose India’s sinister agenda to the world.
Lord Qurban Hussain assured the President of Azad Jammu and Kashmir that he would actively work to raise the Kashmir issue on the global stage. He praised Barrister Sultan’s efforts to highlight the Kashmir internationally and extended an invitation to him to visit the UK and address the British Parliament.
