Kolkata rape-murder case: Junior doctors in West Bengal resume ‘total cease work’

Kolkata: The Junior doctors of West Bengal have resumed the protest under the slogan of ‘total cease work’ against government’s failure to arrest the accused of a junior female doctor’s rape and murder in Kolkata hospital.

According to Kashmir Media Service, the decision to resume protest came days after the junior doctors rejoined their duties partially at government hospitals after a 42-day protest on September 21.

Amid the ongoing protests over the RG Kar rape and murder case, agitating junior doctors in West Bengal resumed their indefinite “total cease work” on Tuesday to press the state government on various demands, including ensuring their safety and security at all medical establishments.

The doctors on Monday wrote a letter to the Chief Secretary stating that they were unhappy with the state government as the promises that were made were not fulfilled.

“We do not see any positive approach from the state government to fulfill our demands for safety and security,” Aniket Mahato, one of the agitating junior doctors said.
